I had to be an OVERACHIEVER - John Keros

I had to be an OVERACHIEVER to land a six-figure tech job. Here’s what I think about quiet quitting. -- -- -- By Emi Nietfeld Every time I see the words “quiet quitting,” my heart starts racing. The term, popularized by a Gen Z TikToker encouraging employees to do the bare minimum at work, floods me with the same panic I felt as an adolescent when it seemed like even one minute of slacking could sabotage my future. In high school, I spent time in foster care, praying that an Ivy League college and a blue-chip job could catapult me into stability. Even as a teenager, I understood that getting into a slightly more exclusive university would make it easier for me to land a high-paying job right out of college—and that would mean the difference between shouldering the debt or immediate security. In the discourse about the death of workaholism, few are talking about the winner-take-all circumstances that make phoning it in an impossible proposition for many of us. As a teenager, I exemplifi...

EV 3 minute charge, but lasting 20 years. Re-posted by John Keros

EV 3 minute charge, but lasting 20 years.  Re-posted by John Keros Harvard-backed startup develops game-changing EV battery that charges in 3 minutes, lasts 20 years. A Harvard-backed startup, Adden Energy, has developed a battery for electric cars that is capable of fully charging in 3 minutes and lasting more than twice that of current EV batteries or 20 years. The startup has received $5.15 million in funding to commercialise the game-changing battery. The technology has received an exclusive license from Harvard’s Office of Technology Development, and the funding was led by Primavera Capital Group, with participation by Rhapsody Venture Partners and MassVentures. The startup will now advance the technology after successfully demonstrating a coin-cell prototype with 5,000-10,000 cycles in a lifetime — as against 2,000 to 3,000 charging cycles for the best in class batteries currently. According to the startup, the rapid development of clean energy storage technology is critical...

Modular (Boxabl) Homes - Re-posted by John Keros

Re-posted by John Keros What are Modular Homes? Modular homes are residences built in a controlled factory environment in sections, or modules, and then transported to the construction site. There, they are installed on permanent foundations and completed by professional installers. But there’s even more to like about prefab modular homes. Modular homes can reduce construction time by more than 35 percent, getting you into your new home faster so you can enjoy it longer. Site-built homes can take many weeks to complete, while modular homes are assembled on site and usually finished within a week. Modular homes offer price savings other approaches cannot. Because most modular construction can be completed in less time than site-built construction, for example, the cost of interim construction financing is significantly reduced or eliminated. Our role as a leading manufacturer requires us to purchase large amounts of quality building material – achieving economies of scale that result in...
